Community Art tends to be work that an artist does with a whole group of people rather than on their own. If an artist makes a sculpture or mural to be installed in a public space then that is called Public Art. As well as my Diploma in Fine Art, I have a BA in Community Development and Sociology. This degree has equipped me to work with groups of people, exploring their needs, locating resources, and facilitating the process of achieving their goals. Community Art can bring together groups of people who wouldn't otherwise meet, strengthen a sense of collective ownership over shared spaces, celebrate the heritage and value of people and places, and build skills and confidence through creative projects.
