Community Arts

"Community Art is work that an artist does with a group of people or a community organisation. This differs from Public Art, in which an artist makes a sculpture or mural to be installed in a public space.  Having a BA in Community Development and Sociology as well as a Diploma in Fine Art equips me to work with groups of people, exploring their needs, locating resources, and facilitating the process of achieving  goals. Community Art can bring together groups of people who wouldn't otherwise meet, strengthen a sense of collective ownership over shared spaces, and build skills and confidence through creative projects. Below are two mural projects I have coordinated. The rainbow wall is outside Mundarda Community Childcare Centre in Seville Grove. The "Our World" Mural is situated in the primary area of John Wollaston Anglican Community School in Camillo.
The lovely kids from my art class came to help paint today!
My daughter sings into her paintbrush at the Mundarda Rainbow Mural
The Rainbow Wall mural commissioned by Mundarda Community Day Care and painted by many of the kids and adults who live in this area.
This mural was designed and painted in collaboration with the students of John Wollaston Anglican Community School
The mural was designed using a compilation of student's drawings based on the prompt "Draw your ideal world"
